Drury University was awarded a $52,000 grant by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in order to create the Ozarks Center for Sustainable Solutions.
With Douglas Neidigh serving as director, Drury will manage the center as part of its environmental health and science programs.
A news release explained that the center will provide pollution-prevention assistance as well as environmental and sustainable awareness to Ozarks businesses, organizations, local governments and the general public.
Further services of the center will include participation in the Ozarks Clean Air Alliance and Blue Skyways Program, development of the Clean Air Action Plan, implementing emission-reduction initiatives, on-site pollution-prevention assessments, pollution-prevention project implementation, assistance in using environmental management systems, and pollution-prevention internship programs, according to the release.
Drury has also developed a pollution prevention class as well, and will make that class available during the Fall, 2008 semester.
