New Use for GPS

Here’s a creative use of GPS (Global Positioning System). The University of Missouri - Kansas City is using one to plot the coordinates of the 1,882 trees on campus.

With trees plotted into the grid, workers at the college can better find trees that may be getting entangled in power lines, are becoming diseased, or otherwise interfere with structures in and around campus.

A grant in the amount of $10,000 was provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Forestry division in order to fund the project.
