See fall’s golden browns, wildflowers and animals on a guided hike to be held Oct. 18 at Meramec State Park in Sullivan.  Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the hike will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Join a park naturalist on a three-mile hike through the river bottoms and glades that make up part of the park’s Mosaic Natural Area. Explore the rich diversity of natural communities in this 831-acre tract, including the fall wildflowers and animals that live there—some of which are quite rare. Meet in the lobby of the park’s visitor center and wear comfortable hiking shoes, dress for the weather and bring along water and a lunch or snacks. You may also want to bring a hiking stick, a camera and binoculars.

Meramec State Park is located three miles south of Sullivan on Highway 185. For more information, call the park directly at 573-468-6072 or the Department of Natural Resources at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
