Mayor Kathy Taylor joined with Tulsa Police Department officers, 911 personnel and representatives of the Oklahoma Army National Guard today to announce Operation Patriot Watch.

Under this program, Tulsa Police officers patrolling neighborhoods will be made aware of the homes of National Guard soldiers who are serving on active duty during a deployment.

Two dozen Oklahoma legislators said they are planning to return copies of the Quran that were given them as gifts from the Governor’s Ethnic American Advisory Council. One of the lawmakers said the Muslim holy book condoned the killing of innocent people.

A Logan County judge recently ordered Jack Aaron Logsdon to pay almost $1.2 million restitution and sentenced him to 29 years incarceration for swindling his friends in a land and cattle scheme, Attorney General Drew Edmondson said.

A jury Sept. 14 found Logsdon guilty on 16 counts including racketeering, fraudulent sale of a security, obtaining money by false pretenses and forgery.[more]

Tulsa businessman Chris Ohman has filed a counterclaim to the suit filed against him by the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Armstrong’s lawsuit, filed in federal court in Austin,Texas, said that pet collars being marketed by Ohman bearing the words “BARKSTRONG” and “PURRSTRONG” infringes on its trademark for “LIVESTRONG.”

The Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture is again soliciting grant proposals from agricultural producers across Oklahoma interested in conducting research or demonstration projects.

Grants can be funded for up to $3,500 for a two-year project and up to $7,500 for a three-year project.

A man walking in front of the Tulsa County Courthouse last Friday drew more than a few stares from passersby. At least one called the police to report him.

It seems that the man was wearing one end of a pair of handcuffs, the other end dangling free and it appeared he may have escaped custody. The “goth” clothing he wore also made observers suspicious.
